As a developing person, I experienced trauma, addictions, and abuse, and, with mentorship, I reclaimed my mental health!
After many experiences that involved humble beginnings, an inner-city kid cultural experience, mixed cultural identity challenges, many adverse life experiences, early negative institutional exposures, and cultural ostracism, with wellness interventions-I achieved stability and reengaged my educational evolution that was significant in learning how to externalize my experienced cultural oppression that was internalized and causing me harm.
I believe, “you can’t really know where you are going until you know where you’ve been!” Maya Angelou. This statement speaks to my passion and experience for self-exploration that I think is very necessary to find resolve to solve for next step to achieve our goals.
Finding resolve, for example, highlights a human psychological need to have the mental clarity to create a direction forward that best suits our individually chosen paths; further, when reflecting on my own personal and professional development process, I’ve been fortunate to overcome many adverse life experiences that enables me a keen lens to help others through similar challenges. Also, with the complex challenges simply living our lives can bring, I am passionate about my effort to provide both resolutions and solutions within a single session.
As a former Wellness Together Canada therapist, I provided counselling services to over 3000 individuals across Canada that expanded my experiential knowledge.
In the mental health arena, I have worked and provided support to clients with a spectrum of challenges with intra/interpersonal relationship concerns, romantic relationships challenges, burnout at work and at home issues, Domestic Violence or Intimate partner violence concerns, the Criminal/Family Justice System and its challenges, Addictions (behaviour and chemical) issues, as well as in the areas of Indigenous lenses and other Advocacy roles. It is important to note that all of my effort is towards working to tailor and collaborate with clients on ‘Evidenced Best Practice’ approaches and treatment plans that focuses on your wellness outcome goals.
Medically, I have experience working with medical mental health symptomology and serious mental health disorders including depression, anxiety, panic, and other physiological stress response symptoms that are experienced from many different clinical diagnoses such as BPD, MDD, ADHD, Bipolar, Concurrent (Addictions and mental health diagnosis), Schizophrenia and Schizoaffective Disorders and others. Moving forward, my professional goal is to support the integration of a neurobiological model’s lens with a keen focus on environmental issues and bird’s eye view effort to reduce cultural oppression.
I look forward to learning more about you and how Resolutions & Solutions Counselling Services can support you on your wellness journey.
